(CBS) - When engineers get bored, new things get invented. How useful those things can be is open to debate, but why don't you watch the video above and judge for yourself?
Okay, so maybe the usefulness of a flying lawnmower is a no-brainer to judge. But the cool factor? That is way up there! I mean, did you see that thing just take off in the air? And it even came down for a pretty smooth "lawn-trimming landing" briefly near the end.
The Japanese have a word for inventions like this. "Chindogu" roughly means "unuseless." A lawnmower that flies too high to actually mow grass seems like it would fit the bill. And it sure looks like fun to fly.
