Afghan Survives Death Sentence

Justice is swift and severe under the Islamic fundamentalist rule in Afghanistan - but if you survive, you're free.

A man convicted of sexually assaulting a boy was sentenced to death. In Afghanistan, such criminals are executed by being crushed under a brick wall.

So, on Friday the man was placed by a 15-foot brick wall, and a tank knocked it over on him.

But the man survived.

He says "God has proven" his innocence.

Under Taliban law, a death sentence is commuted if the convicted person survives the execution.
