What scientists hope to learn from today's total solar eclipse

| Derrick Pitts, chief astronomer and planetarium director for the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, will observe the solar eclipse from St. Joseph, Missouri. It's within the 70-mile-wide path of totality.
