MY THOUGHTS ON RAIN/SNOW MOVING INTO NORTH TEXAS

THOUGHTS ON WINTER WEATHER FOR #DFW:  Rain has already settled in across much of North Texas this evening.  It will rain all night and most of the day on Thursday.

NEEDED RAIN:
At times, the rain will be heavy.  This will be some much-needed rain with some areas getting 1" to even 2" of rain.  Give or take a little on either side of that range.

SNOW POTENTIAL:
Most of the models are suggesting mainly rain for the Metroplex Thursday morning and Thursday afternoon, but a couple of the models suggest the rain/snow line may make it to DFW during the morning hours on Thursday.  That is something to keep an eye on. (Be sure to watch tonight at 10pm)  Even if we do see snow mixed with rain on Thursday, temperatures will stay above freezing.  So no icy conditions in my forecast.  There could be light accumulation on grassy surfaces, car tops, and rooftops.  But the roads will just stay wet.  And with temperatures above freezing, no ice!  Wet roads seem to create their own set of problems with accidents so be careful in the morning.

CLOSER LOOK AT DIFFERENT POINTS DURING THE DAY FOR THE DFW METROPLEX:

TONIGHT
Cold rain with temps falling into the 40s.  Rain/snow mixture around Wichita Falls.

TOMORROW MORNING

Mainly cold rain in DFW, but just to the west and north some snow may mix in with the rain at times.  Bundle up!  It will be windy and wet with temps in the 40s.

TOMORROW AFTERNOON

Still mainly a cold rain in DFW, but rain/snow mix still possible out to the west.

TOMORROW NIGHT

Temperatures will fall into the 30s.  This is the timeframe where we have the best chance of seeing light snow/flurries mixed with the light rain in the DFW area.  Temperatures will be above freezing so no ice on the roads.

FRIDAY MORNING

A few left over flurries and maybe a few light snow showers.  Temps again stay above freezing.
