WYLIE – Two people are dead following a structure fire at the Southfork Mobile Home Community.

Wylie Fire Rescue responded to the scene on Ewing Way at approximately 5:03 p.m. Friday, according to a news release from the department.

When they arrived, neighbors alerted firefighters about the possibility of individuals trapped inside one of the mobile homes.

During their initial search and rescue efforts, they discovered the bodies of two deceased individuals.

Additional units from the Murphy and the Parker fire departments arrived to assist, bringing 31 firefighters to the scene. The fire was extinguished by 5:18 p.m., the department said.

The family has identified the victims, and no one else was in the building at the time of the fire.

The Wylie Fire Marshal's Office and the Wylie Police Department are investigating the cause and origin of the fire, which is believed to be accidental, the news release states.

The Collin County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.

Damage from the fire is estimated to be a total loss. Wylie Fire Rescue said they have yet to confirm whether the property had working smoke alarms at the time of the incident.
