The NHL announced today that they have cancelled games through January 14th. The players union and the owners have been unable to reach an agreement that facilitates the interests of both parties.
Both sides have not met since December 13th and NHLPA Executive Director Donald Fehr thinks that's part of the problem:
"We have to find a way to have discussions because it's very hard to come to an agreement if you're not talking to one another..."
Fehr and commissioner Gary Bettman have been at a stalemate for months and fans are beginning to lose faith that there will be a season at all. With these recent cancellations the NHL has now eliminated over fifty percent of its games for the 2012-2013 season.
