Jonathan Casillas 14th Player To Land On Bucs Injured Reserve This Season

By Max Luckan

Everyone knows the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are not going to the playoffs, but that doesn't mean they are going to just give up the rest of the way. Rather, they will still try to make something of this disappointing and drama-filled season, at least, that's according to veteran leader Gerald McCoy.

Jonathan Casillas

"We're not going to the playoffs. It's a fact. So what?" McCoy said. "Are we going to lay down, or are we going to finish off strong? We have four more weeks to leave our mark on 2013. What are we going to do with it? It's up to us."

That process has to then start with a victory over the 4-8 Buffalo Bills this Sunday.

Team Injuries

Linebacker Jonathan Casillas was really starting to play well for the Bucs in recent weeks. But, unfortunately for him and the Bucs, he was placed on injured reserve this week after undergoing season-ending surgery because of a knee injury.

Of course, guard Carl Nicks did not practice on Wednesday and Thursday, and he definitely will not play against the Bills on Sunday.

Wide receiver Vincent Jackson did not participate in practice on Wednesday and was limited on Thursday because of a leg injury, head coach Greg Schiano said. Jackson's status is actually uncertain for Sunday's game. However, the Bucs are thin at the receiver position at this point in the year.

Cornerback Darrelle Revis got hurt again against the Carolina Panthers, but did not suffer a concussion after losing consciousness.

"They were saying that I got knocked out for a second," Revis said. "I'm fine, though." That means Revis, who also previously had a groin injury, should be ready to be in the starting lineup for the Bucs this weekend.

Wide receiver Chris Owusu, who has a hamstring injury, was limited in Thursday's session. His status also remains up in the air, but the Bucs will need him, as they are already without wide receiver Mike Williams and Vincent Jackson is also banged up.

Davin Joseph received his normal day off from practice on Wednesday. He's listed on the injury report as having a knee injury, which stems from the injury he suffered last season. Joseph should be in the starting lineup when the Bucs play the Bills.

Bills Injuries

Bills defensive tackle Kyle Williams, a key player on their defense, has been dealing with an Achilles injury that has limited his production. However, Williams did fully participate in practice on Thursday and indications are that he will suit up this Sunday.

Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin is dealing with a calf injury and he was limited in Thursday's practice session. The Bills have not gotten much production out of their receivers this season, but that can also be partly attributed to their quarterback dilemma.

Tight end Scott Chandler did not practice on Thursday for the Bills. He's listed on the injury report as dealing with something that's not injury related.

Compared to the Bucs, who have 14 players on injured reserve, the Bills appear to be relatively healthy this late in the season, which could give them a slight advantage this Sunday.
