Buccaneers Jackson May Be Limited Sunday Against Saints

By Kyra Hallett

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the healthiest they have been all season with only two players on the NFL Injury Report.  The New Orleans Saints on the other hand have nine injuries and more serious ones.  Both of the Bucs players were limited at practice and are listed as probable for Sunday's game.  The Bucs need to continue on this track of staying healthy so they can make the long run.  The bye week helped the Bucs last week but they are hoping that it hinders the Saints this week who are coming off their bye.  In the last three seasons, the Saints have won the game following their bye week.

Once again, guard Carl Nicks is on the injury report.  He is listed at probable and was limited at practice with a toe injury.  Nicks injured his toe in Week One versus the Carolina Panthers.  It got jammed and was swollen following the game but he has been playing through the pain.  He will most likely play Sunday so he can face his old team.  He has been looking forward to this game "for a whole bunch of reasons, but mainly so I can play the guys and play the team that let me go I guess," said Nicks.

Quarterback Josh Freeman's main target, wide receiver Vincent Jackson is on the injury report for the first time this season.  He is listed as having a calf injury, was limited at practice and is probable for Sunday's game.  He is suffering from a mild calf strain.  "I think he'll be fine," said head coach Greg Schiano, "just precautionary."  Expect Jackson to play but he could be limited in production.  Freeman has a number of other targets to throw to in Mike Williams and breakout player last week Tiquan Underwood, if Jackson isn't feeling his best.

Running back, Travaris Cadet (Shoulder)
Linebacker, Jonathan Casillas (Neck)
Guard, Jahri Evans (Toe)
Cornerback, Jabari Greer (Groin)
Defensive end, Turk McBride (Ankle)
Wide Receiver, Lance Moore (Hamstring)
Linebacker, Scott Shanle (Illness)

Tight end, Jimmy Graham (Ankle)

Linebacker, David Hawthorne (Hamstring)

The injury to Jackson is the only one to worry about for the Bucs.  A calf strain on a wide receiver is never good especially when it keeps them limited in practice.  Jackson has been a big part of the offense so Freeman has to look at his other options.  The good thing is that Freeman does throw to whoever is open which should work in the Bucs favor.
