Bruno Mars Unveils New Song, Talks Upcoming Album
Bruno Mars has been away for a while but his new single "Locked Out of Heaven" proves the hiatus was well worth the wait.
Yesterday the crooner debuted his new single to fans on YouTube. The energetic beats and catchy vocals had all dancing along in Google Hangout while they waited for a Q&A with the star.
"What's up world, my name is Bruno," he said before premiering the new track. "This song we've been working very hard on."
"Never had much faith in love or miracles/ Never want to put my heart on the line/ But swimming in your water is something spiritual," he sings at the track's start alongside foot-stomping beats and hand clapped rhythms.
The first track off his album Unorthodox Jukebox due for release December 11, "Locked Out of Heaven" is a sound unlike any we've heard from the singer. The song was produced by Mark Ronson, Jeff Bhasker, Emile Haynie and songwriting team the Smeezingtons (Mars, Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine).
In his Q&A Bruno confessed he's been busy perfecting the track for the past three months. As far as the name of the album, he said it represents his personality.
"I am all over the place and it is unorthodox how we write these songs and how we work and music in general. I just want to have the freedom to be able to come in here and one day pick up a guitar, pick up a piano and do a reggae song, do a solo record," he said. "That's the only way I think I'll stay sane and really have fun doing this. I want to be able to venture off and experiment with different sounds and different lyrical content so that's the name of the album."
With his lead single "Locked Out of Heaven" he more than accomplished this. Expect Unorthodox Jukebox December 11.
