The holidays are a time of giving to others. The need for assistance during the holiday season increases each year while donations to the needy have been dropping. Whether volunteering time or donating food, clothing or toys, there is always some method in which giving to others can be accomplished. Every county in every state has social service organizations and churches that help the needy during the holidays. Whether you can help a little or a lot, this time of year is when assistance is needed the most.

www.tampa-fl.toysfortots.orgMany people associate the Toys for Tots program as simply dropping off a toy at one of the many drop-box locations. However, there are many other types of gift donations that can be donated to Toys for Tots. Money is always helpful but donations of time and manpower are also in great demand at this time of year. Volunteers are needed to sort, wrap and deliver toys to children throughout the county. Each county has its own coordinator, so visit the website to find the information on your county's Toys for Tots program.

In addition to monetary donations, the Salvation Army accepts donations of clothing, furniture, household items, airline miles, vehicles and toys. There is also an increased need during the holidays for volunteers to help with the various services that are offered by the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army also accepts monetary donations online, as well as bonds, stocks and gift annuities.

www.allkids.orgAll Children's Hospital has many ways in which to donate over the holiday season. While monetary donations are always welcome, the holiday season finds the hospital in need of many other items to make a child happy on Christmas morning. Due to the risk of infection and the safety of the children, only new toys and merchandise can be given to the hospitalized children. However, any items donated that cannot be used in the hospital may be given to the Ronald McDonald House for use by the siblings of patients in All Children's Hospital.
