After Making History V Tulsa, Bulls Look Ahead With Confidence

It was the biggest comeback in USF history. Down 27-7 at halftime to Tulsa last weekend the Bulls, now 3-4 on the year, came roaring back in the second half to the tune of a 31-3 run to advance to 2-1 in the AAC and finally get that confidence that they've been lacking most of the year. Confidence that head coach Willie Taggart says can absolutely turn this team around.

"They can win ballgames if they played the way they're capable of," Taggart said Tuesday. "When our guys start to realize that and have that attitude that's when the big changes start to happen."

Senior defensive tackle, Elkino Watson, knows winning is all it takes to get that confidence, especially within the conference.

"Guys like the taste of winning," Watson said. "Now we're 2-1 in the conference and there's still a chance we can win the conference."

One of the key plays in Saturday's win over Tulsa was a blocked field goal right before halftime by senior tight end Mike McFarland. It's those plays that can turn the table in a game and swing the momentum towards the Bulls. But coming out in the second half and taking advantage of that momentum swing is crucial.

"All through the week we were stressing playing all four quarters," McFarland said. "Going out there with the same juice and excitement as we did the first half. That was the momentum changer for us."

Up next for the Bulls (3-4, 2-1 AAC) is another AAC matchup against the Cincinnati Bearcats (3-3, 1-1 AAC). It will be the 12th meeting between the two schools with UC holding a dominate edge in the series and winning two of the last three between them.
