Former Tampa Bay Lightning Player Pleads Guilty To Attempted Sexual Assault Of Child

Long-time minor leaguer and former member of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Michael McBain, pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault and attempted lewdness with a child in a Las Vegas District Court. McBain, who was drafted by Tampa Bay in 1995, played for the Lightning from 1997 to 1999 in a total of 64 games. He then returned to the minor leagues where he played until 2008, finishing his career with the Las Vegas Wranglers. McBain then became an assistant coach with the club the next season.

A sentencing hearing is set for January 30th where McBain could face up to 40 years in prison.
