Wild Turkeys Take Over East Bay Town

ALBANY (KPIX 5) -- Parents in a quiet East Bay town are on alert after the town has been taken over by a gang of roaming wild turkeys.

Around a dozen wild turkeys began roaming the small town of Albany sometime after Thanksgiving.

Residents have complained that the birds screech and gobble, disrupting the peace. They also leave behind a mess.

Some parents told KPIX 5 they were not letting their children go out and play.

Vector Control believes some neighbors may be feeding the turkeys, encouraging them to stick around.

Albany officials encouraged residents to remove bird feeders, and consider installing motion detecting sprinklers to help shoo the birds away.
