A man on felony probation has been charged in a string of commercial burglaries in Union City last year, authorities said Monday.

The Alameda County District Attorney's Office said in a press statement it has charged 22-year-old Nathaniel Porter with eight felony counts of burglary for allegedly participating in a string of commercial burglaries of multiple businesses in Union City.

Porter is also charged with committing the burglaries while being on probation for a previous conviction.

The DA's office said the criminal complaint alleges that on March 21, 2024, Porter burglarized eight different businesses in a Union City strip mall with the intent to commit larceny at a time when the businesses were closed.

Investigators developed a lead placing Porter at the location during the burglaries, according to the office.

Porter has been arraigned on the charges and was scheduled to appear for a plea hearing on February 10 at the East County Hall of Justice in Dublin.

The DA's office said If Porter is convicted of all charges he faces up to 10 years and 6 months in prison.
