The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety said they arrested two people in connection to a 2017 deadly shooting.

The SDPS said the shooting happened just after 2 a.m. on June 8, 2017. Officers arrived to the 900 block of East Duane Avenue and found two people injured in a shooting.

One of them died at the scene; the other was taken to the hospital and survived his injuries.

The case went cold, but the SDPS said they identified the suspects in 2024. Then, on Jan. 9 and 10, a multi-agency operation led to the arrest of the suspects.

They identified the suspects as Vicente Aguilera-Chavez and Agustin Sandoval. Both were booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of murder.

The SDPS said the operation was done in cooperation with the Stockton and East Palo Alto police, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office, FBI and the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office Cold Case Unit and Gang Team.
