PLACER COUNTY – A fentanyl dealer was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison after he was convicted of murder for the fentanyl death of Kade Webb, prosecutors said.

Carson Schewe was the first person to be convicted of fentanyl murder in the Placer County area.

Webb bought fentanyl from Schewe on Dec. 3, 2021, prosecutors said. He was found dead a short time later at a local business.

Prosecutors said Webb ingested a pill containing fentanyl.

In California, five fentanyl dealers have been convicted of murder, including three in Placer County.

Webb is the cousin to San Francisco Giants pitcher Logan Webb.
