The fire was burning near the Butte and Yuba county line, but no evacuation warnings and orders were issued in Yuba County.

It's unknown what sparked the fire at this time. There have been no reports of injuries.

Palermo is about 65 miles north of Sacramento and has a population of about 5,500 people.

The Cal Fire Butte Unit is also battling a vegetation fire in the Robinson Mill area. That fire, the Rocky Fire, has burned about 10 acres and was threatening immediate structures.

The Butte County Sheriff's Office issued evacuation orders for the Rocky Fire but they have been lifted as forward progress was stopped.
