On Oscar night, stars get to strut their stuff, showing off gowns, jewelry, hairdos and makeup. Some actresses pull it all together to hit just the right note, while others fall flat. The Early Show contributing stylist David Evangelista and Suze Yalof Schwartz, a fashion editor at Glamour magazine, list winners and losers.

Fashion Winner
Michelle Williams, Best Supporting Actress nominee, was Evangelista's choice for best dressed. Of the "Brokeback Mountain" star, he said, the fashion gods "sent someone who took a risk" and "set the tone" for fashionistas." The bright marigold Vera Wang gown was accompanied by "perfect" choices in jewelry, lipstick and hairstyle.

Fashion Winner
While she liked Michelle Williams' look as well, Schwartz said Best Actress nominee Keira Knightley stole the show. Her wine-colored Vera Wang gown was accompanied by a 1960s Bulgari necklace. "She looked gorgeous," Schwartz said of the "Pride & Prejudice" star. "Every guy's eye dropped. Everyone wanted to look like her."

Another Hit
Uma Thurman pulled hair, jewelry, makeup and gown together in what one stylist called a flawless look. A presenter at the ceremony, Thurman wore a full-skirted, nude-colored gown and an updo.

A Mixed Review
The fashion experts were divided over the look of Best Actress nominee Felicity Huffman. Evangelista said he was not a fan of the Zac Posen gown the "Transamerica" star wore and her hairstyle was "too matronly" for the sexy gown. Schwartz thought it was "the best she ever looked like in her life."

A Red Carpet Trip
Normally among the best-dressed, Best Actress nominee Charlize Theron took a misstep with an over-the-top bow on one shoulder of her dark green John Galiano gown. In addition to the overwhelming detail on her dress, Evangelista pointed to her hair, saying "someone must have teased it and not brushed it out."

Worst Dressed?
Both experts chose the same star - Helena Bonham Carter - as the worst dressed saying she had "Fashion Don't" written all over her forehead. Evangelista said the hair and dress were "a complete mess" and has a 1980s look. Schwartz said the proportion of the dress did not match the proportion of her hair and the white shoes were all wrong.

Step It Up!
In her biggest public appearance since her divorce, Jennifer Aniston looked nice but could have used higher wattage, both experts agreed. "I would have probably worn a red dress that said, 'I'm here; I don't care what happened to me,'" said Evangelista. Schwartz added, "I thought she looked absolutely beautiful but it was not newsworthy."

Needs An "Edge"
Oscar winner Reese Witherspoon needed an edgier look than she got with her silver and white vintage Chanel gown, the experts said. Evangelista said he would have preferred to see her in a gown by an American designer such as Ralph Lauren or Calvin Klein. Schwarz said she would have looked better in a straight rather than full skirt.

Overwhelmed
Usually a red carpet winner, Naomi Watts fell flat. "It's hard for a blonde to wear a nude color; everything just melds into one another, Evangelista said. "Too much going on on the shoulder, the bodice." Schwartz said her hair, makeup and jewelry were spot on, but the Givenchy gown was too much for her.

Too Bridal
Another fashionista with a miss was presenter Nicole Kidman whose strapless white gown was deemed too bridal for the red carpet. "She looked like she was ready to go to her wedding," said Schwarz. Evangelista agreed: "All she needed was a bouquet of flowers and the wedding march behind her."

A Fashion Comeback
After several recent red-carpet disasters, singer and actress Jennifer Lopez made the list of winners. She wore her green gown with the perfect sleek hairstyle and some pretty makeup, the experts said. Added Evangelista, "She's definitely back in the trenches again, the fashion trenches."
