Power Outage Halts Amtrak Service From New York City To New Haven

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A power outage halted Amtrak Northeast Corridor service between New York City and New Haven, Connecticut Friday evening.

Service was suspended for hours along the Northeast Corridor, which serves multiple Amtrak lines, due to a commercial power outage affecting the Amtrak Hell Gate Line – the section of track from New Rochelle to Penn Station.

CHECK: Amtrak

The outage affected overhead power lines north of New York City, Amtrak said. Trains in the area were held until power was restored.

Service had resumed by 8:45 p.m., but congestion-related delays persisted.

Further information on the outage and its cause was not immediately available.
