It was 32 years ago when Bill Walton embarked on a long strange basketball journey during which he won two NCAA and two NBA championships.
Now, the basketball Hall Of Famer and eternal Grateful Dead fan is on another long strange journey, his "Love It Live" tour, during which he is attending 30 NBA playoff games in 30 nights.
Walton believes this year's playoff field is as wide open as any he's seen in his 30 years around the league. The two-defending NBA champion Lakers are obviously favorites but Bill has said they can be beaten.
He doesn't think any team can "stop" Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant. But he does believe the way to beat them is to outscore them. This tends to fly in the face of conventional NBA wisdom, which says defense wins championships.
