National Correspondent, CBS News

Senior Correspondent, CBS News Sunday Morning

In October of 1993, Tim Sample became a regular contributor to CBS News Sunday Morning. Since then, Tim's Postcards from Maine essays have aired about once a month.

Up in Maine, Tim (a native born and raised) is widely recognized as the state's foremost modern purveyor of that legendary dry Yankee distillate known as "down east" humor. Tim has made numerous recordings of New England dialectal humor, including four albums for the legendary Bert and I company.

When he is not covering the lobster boat races in Jonesport, the potato harvest in Aroostook County or Mud Season statewide, Tim pursues his career as a humorist with gusto. According to best-selling author and Maine native Stephen King:

"He's funny if you come from Augusta, Maine; he's just as funny if you come from Augusta, Georgia. Like Mark Twain, who started--believe it or not--as a regional humorist himself, Sample's humor is sweet on the tongue... but kicks like a spirited mule going down. And, like Twain, his stories of Maine life and Maine people don't show that we are different from you, but rather that we are all the same."

Tim's book Saturday Night at Moody's Diner is a regional bestseller. He has produced several videotapes, including Sunday Morning in Maine, a collection of 12 of his most popular Postcards. His 6th album, Born in Maine, was released on CD and cassette.

Tim spends one out of every four days on the concert and after-dinner circuit regaling audiences from coast to coast with his own unique brand of humor from the heart of the Maine storytelling tradition.
