Sosa Passes Joltin' Joe On HR List

Sammy Sosa homered in his first two at-bats Sunday night and passed Joe DiMaggio on the career list.

In the first inning, the Chicago Cubs' star hit Dan Reichert's 0-2 pitch 414 feet over the fence in straightaway center for a 2-0 lead over Kansas City.

In the third, he hit a 3-2 offering from Reichert for a two-run shot that sailed 421 feet over the fence in straightaway center. With 363 homers, Sosa moved into sole possession of 50th place, two homers ahead of DiMaggio.

During a nine-game hitting streak, Sosa has hit six home runs. He has connected in three straight games, boosting his season total to 27.
