(CBS) - Hooray, Samsung Galaxy S II, the highly anticipated mobile device that rivals the not-yet-released iPhone 5, will be in stock and ready for purchase in September for AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile customers. Sprint has even confirmed a release date of September 16. AT&T and T-Mobile have yet to give specific details.

Sprint also said the Epic 4G Touch in the Galaxy S generation of phones will be priced at $200 (with a two-year contract), reports PC World.

When tech nuts first laid eyes on the gadget at the Mobile World Congress 2011, the top-tier smartphone won many over.

The mobile device has dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 16GB of internal storage, a full gigabyte of RAM, the latest version of Android (Gingerbread), and front-facing cameras.

It is slim and lightweight, has TouchWiz user interface, and rivals the iPhone 5. "Perhaps the strongest sign of the Samsung Galaxy S II's threat to Apple iPhones is that Apple is aggressively seeking to ban the Android phone around the world for 'slavishly copying' the iPhone," says PC Magazine.

Already released in South Korea and parts of Europe, the Samsung Galaxy S II has proven to be the fastest-selling smartphone ever. Tech reviewers in the U.S. have given the gadget their praises with some even declaring that it's comparable to the iPhone 5 to come.
