Goalie Felix Potvin didn't get a raise when he signed a one-year contract with the New York Islanders. The way things went for him last season, though, he said he didn't expect one.
"Just knowing that I'm going to camp and playing, I'm happy, " Potvin said Monday after signing for $2.7 million.
Last season was not particularly noteworthy for the 28-year-old Potvin. It began with a long holdout with the Toronto Maple Leafs. And, then after appearing in only five games, he was traded in January to the Islanders, he was bothered by a nagging groin injury. He was 2-7-1 with the Islanders and had a 3.66 goals against average.
The highlight of his season was a 55-saves game against the New Jersey Devils in April.
