People Sickened At LA Conference Grows To 200

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Health officials say the number of people sickened after attending a global Internet conference in Southern California has grown from 170 to about 200.

The Los Angeles County's Department of Public Health said Tuesday it is focusing its investigation into a suspected respiratory infection outbreak on a party at the Playboy Mansion attended by many of the conference-goers.

The agency said it still doesn't know what caused people who attended the DOMAINfest Global conference in Santa Monica to come down with fever, chills, cough and other signs of illness.

The department said the causes may include viruses, bacteria or irritants. It has not determined that exposure is limited to a specific source at the Playboy party. The conference ran from Feb. 1-3 and featured many events.
