Give me a break-in? Thief leaves note apologizing for stealing Kit Kat from car

MANHATTAN, Kan. — Kansas State University freshman Hunter Jobbins had left his car for just a few minutes Sunday, when he returned and discovered something was missing, reports CBS affiliate WIBW.

A Kit Kat bar that had been in the car’s cup holder was nowhere to be found, but Jobbins did notice a short handwritten note.

“Saw Kit Kat in your cup holder. I love Kit Kats so I checked your door and it was unlocked. Did not take anything other than the Kit Kat. I am sorry and hungry,” the thief wrote.

Jobbins recounted to WIBW his reaction to reading the note.

“At first I was a little upset that my Kit Kat was gone because, you know, it’s a Kit Kat and I was looking forward to eating it,” said Jobbins. “Then I read it again and I thought you know this is really funny.”

Jobbins said he wasn’t upset after realizing the Kit Kat was the only thing missing from his car. He shared the note on social media and it was soon shared hundreds of thousands of times.

Kit Kat even responded over social media to Jobbins, promising to replace the stolen treat.

“It’s just crazy how it all happened,” said Jobbins, adding that students have started calling him the “Kit Kat guy.”

“If you have candy in your car I would probably hide it or there’s a chance that the Kit Kat thief might take it from you,” said Jobbins.
