Every Cinderella story involves a big change. Rags become a ball gown. Rats become white horses.

When change happens on the outside, the world sees you differently. People do judge books by their covers and it's true … you never get a second chance to make a first impression.

But it was that first impression of Susan Boyle that won so many hearts and defied stereotypes. People loved her because she wasn't wrapped in a predictable package.

So for some fans, today's news of a new 'do and brand new duds was a bit disappointing.

She's found her glass slipper and a makeover tends to go with the territory ... but the magic moment happened when the world saw her transform from a duckling to a swan with just a few bars of "I Dreamed a Dream."

No matter how her fairy tale ends, the sweet and simple story is a reminder that looks can be deceiving .. .and everyone has a gift to share and a chance to dance at the ball.
