Jill On Money: 401Ks, Taxes, 529 Plans and CD Rates

Podcast

Stacey from Chalotte, NC led off the show, with a "happy question" -- she discovered that she had money in a previous employer's pension and wanted to know what to do with it. This led to an e-mail asking how to roll over an old employer's 401 (k).

Parents, get out your oxygen masks before listening to my conversation with Mike from Detroit, who was talking college funding...you may be surprised at the advice I provide!

I fielded a bunch of tax preparation questions -- see the links provided below if you are one of the nearly 30 percent of Americans who file in the last two weeks before the deadline. According to the Tax Foundation, taxpayers spend more than $300 billion a year just to figure out how much they owe...sheesh!

Rounding out the show was Shelley from Houston needed a little nudging about a losing individual stock position; Damon from San Francisco, who wanted guidance about transferring a credit card balance; and Tim from Denver who raised an important warning about a "too good to be true" CD offer.

In between, we talked about the Best Baseball Teams for the Buck and of course, those lucky lottery winners in upstate New York. Thanks to everyone who participated and of course to Mark T. ("Mr. 18 percent"), the best producer ever (sorry Laura!) If you have a financial question, there are lots of ways to contact the show:
