Jets Make Carthon Assistant
Maurice Carthon was promoted Friday to assistant head coach by the New York Jets.
Carthon also will remain as the team's running backs coach, a job he's held for three years.
"Maurice understands players, tactics and what it takes to win in the NFL," coach Al Groh said. "Most significantly, he has a high standard and is a strong leadership presence, which I intend to take full advantage of by having him work closely with me in varied projects."
Carthon was a fullback on two Super Bowl-winning teams for the New York Giants. A former running back in the USFL, he also played for the Indianapolis Colts.
