In new ad, congressional candidate offers respite from other ads

Tisei for Congress

As voters across the country face a barrage of nasty political ads, one candidate is offering up something of an alternative: Richard Tisei, a Republican congressional candidate in Massachusetts, is out with a new TV ad featuring a placid view of the ocean and the calming sound of chirping birds.

What's the strategy? "...Because you need a break from all the campaign ads," according to a small text box in the bottom-right corner of the video, which according to the ad was shot at Good Harbor Beach, in Gloucester, Mass., which is in the congressional district he's aiming to represent.

At the end of the 30-second ad, a woman sighs, extolling, "ah, that was nice."

While Massachusetts isn't a presidential battleground state, it's been the site of a bitter, costly ad between Senate candidates Elizabeth Warren and Scott Brown.

Tisei, a former state senator, is running against Democratic Representative John Tierney, from Salem.
