New Jersey Devils forwards Patrik Elias and Brendan Morrison signed contracts Thursday and became eligible to rejoin the team.
The two players, who missed the first eight games of the season because of a contract holdout, agreed to terms on Monday, abandoning their bids for $1 million contracts.
To make room for them on the roster, the Devils placed center Jason Arnott and defenseman Brad Bombardir on the injured reserve list. Arnott has a mouth injury and Bombardir has torn ligaments in his esophagus, Devils spokesman Mike Levine said.
Terms were not disclosed.
Morrison reportedly will get a one-year deal worth $500,000. Elias reportedly agreed to a three-year deal worth $650,000 annually, double what he made last season.
Elias had 17 goals and 33 assists last season. Morrison, who had a base salary of about $400,000 last year, had 13 goals and 33 assists.
