Daley Says Chicago, Overall, Handled Blizzard Well
CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago Mayor Richard Daley says, overall, the city responded well to this week's blizzard and defended the decision to close the Lake Shore Drive.
Daley told a Thursday news conference that emergency officials "appropriately" closed the roadway where motorists were stranded for up to 12 hours as the third-worst storm to ever hit Chicago moved across the city. Hundreds of vehicles were abandoned and had to be dug out the next day.
Daley called that situation a "crisis."
He says he wouldn't have done anything different in the city's storm response.
