Bucks Clinch Winning Season


Tim Thomas matched a season high with 21 points and Milwaukee clinched its first winning season since 1990-91 in beating Toronto 115-102 Wednesday night.

The Bucks also remain tied with Detroit for sixth in the Eastern Conference playoff race. The teams play here Friday night.

Ray Allen and Glenn Robinson each scored 18 points for Milwaukee.

  • Toronto lost its third straight, despite a season-high 29 points, including nine 3-pointers, from Dee Brown. John Wallace added 21 points and Vince Carted scored 20.

    Milwaukee held a double-digit lead most of the game until Toronto rallied midway through the fourth quarter.

    Toronto used a 12-2 run to cut Milwaukee's lead to 99-92 with 4:33 left in the game. That was the closest the Raptors would get down the stretch.

    After trailing 61-44 at halftime, Toronto cut the margin to 70-57 after two free throws by Doug Christie with 6:36 left in the third quarter.

    Thomas scored seven points in a 10-2 Milwaukee run. His 3-point play with 4:23 left gave the Bucks their biggest lead of the game, 80-59.

    John Wallace answered with eight straight points, and a 3-pointer by Brown put the score at 83-70.

    Milwaukee's biggest lead in the first half was 49-30 after a basket by Vinny Del Negro with 6:00 left in the second quarter.

    Brown drilled three 3-pointers and, after a slam dunk by Carter, Toronto cut the lead to 56-44 with 1:10 to play.

    Milwaukee scored the next five points to close out the half, as the Bucks shot 61 percent in the first two quarters.

    Notes: Dell Curry (backs spasms) did not suit up for the second straight game. ... Milwaukee has now won eight of the last 10 and four straight at home against Toronto. ... The Raptors' franchise-record three-game road winning streak came to an end. ... All of Toronto's remaining games are with teams currently vying for a playoff position (Milwaukee, Cleveland and Philadelphia).
