Restricted free agent center Rod Brind'Amour re-signed with the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday, agreeing to a three-year, $11.25 million deal just before a scheduled arbitration hearing.
"This is a deal that places him in the upper echelon of our salary structure," Flyers general manager Bob Clarke said. "It's where he deserves to be."
The deal makes Brind'Amour the third-highest-paid player on the team, behind captain Eric Lindros and John LeClair. Lindros will be paid $8.5 million this season, and LeClair will earn $3.669 million.
Brind'Amour, who made $1.6 million last season, will earn $3.5 million this season and next. He'll get a raise to $4.25 million in 2000-2001.
The 28-year-old Ottawa native had 36 goals and 38 assists in 82 games last season. In 696 career NHL games with the Flyers and the St. Louis Blues, he has 249 goals and 380 assists.
