1998 Toy Test

If you love to play electronic games, then Pacific Science Center

in Seattle is the place to be through Sunday, Aug. 16.

CBS Consumer Correspondent Herb Weisbaum kicks off the 1998 Toy Test on CBS This Morning by kid-testing this year's crop of digital diversion. FamilyPC, the leading source of information on computers and the Internet for families, joins with CBS This Morning in finding the best of the bunch.

Young players from 7 years up will have a chance to check out the latest games from Sony and Nintendo and test-drive dozens of new computer games. Some of this software is so new it's not even on the market yet!

After playing, the kids rate the games for us from "terrible" to "most excellent," so we can tell other kids all across the country — and their parents and grandparents — which ones are the coolest.

Online Preview: If you can't get to the Pacific Science Center, you can still get a look at some of the newest games here on CBS.com. Note: the audio and video you get in this streaming media is nowhere near the quality you would receive if you bought the game; but it will give you a taste of things to come.

1997 Winners: Last year, we collected more than 15,000 ratings! See how many of the winners you have in your library.

The results of the game tests will be unveiled the week of November 16-21 as part of CBS Consumer Correspondent Herb Weisbaum's 1998 Toy Test series on CBS This Morning. Family PC Magazine will publish the PC games results in its holiday buying issue.

In closing, CBS.com would like to extend a special thanks to Micron Electronics, which graciously supplied the PCs we used to test the computer games.
