MINNEAPOLIS — Things are warming up a bit in Minnesota following an extremely frigid morning.

Temperatures began in the negative teens early Tuesday morning, which prompted many schools in the state to close or go to e-learning.

Temps have been steadily rising since then, however, and are expected to be in the lower teens by the overnight hours and higher by midday Wednesday.

Light snow of up to an inch is expected in northern Minnesota Tuesday evening, with flurries possible in the Twin Cities area.

By afternoon, temperatures will climb into the positives, though wind chills will remain below zero.

On Wednesday, highs will rebound to average, topping out in the mid-20s. There will be a chance for snow in the morning as a weak system passes, which could bother early commuters.

Thursday will bring another brief cooldown, with highs in the single digits for some.

More light snow is possible to end the week, then we push into the weekend with temperatures in the 20s. But no big snow storms in sight.
