Best Summer 2014 Craft Fairs In Minnesota

Seven craft fairs launch summer merriment in Minnesota. June is the busiest month with more than one craft fair every weekend leading up to the largest fair in July. The second largest art fair in Minnesota, The Edina Art Fair attracts more than 340 artists each showcasing their own distinct art. Held in the loci of chic shops at 50th and France, the 48th Edina Art Fair boasts variety of the finest and most attractive collection of art for sale. Attendees witness fashion shows, cooking art, flower arranging, lifestyle demonstrations, spa techniques, kids activities, fantastic food and magnificent music. The entertainment value is immense given free admission and free shuttle.

The citizens of this erudite village, the origin of Minneapolis and near the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota, are rolling out the 45th Saint Anthony Park Arts Festival. Eighty artists, many musicians and throngs of caring citizens come together for this fair for benefit of the historic St. Anthony Park Branch of the St. Paul Public Library. In addition to viewing the crafts of others, kids get a chance to throw their own pottery, bibliophiles will enjoy diverse books for sale, gardeners will find many plants looking for a good garden and fair-goers will find plenty of good food and great music.

The center for summer leisure on Lake Minnetonka beckons all to enjoy Art on the Lake at this world-class art show on the lakefront in downtown Excelsior. Park for free at Minnetonka High School and grab a free shuttle throughout the day. Board the bus at Water and Lake Street to return to the high school.

See the works of 125 artists along the scenic Mississippi Riverfront and celebrate the Historic Stone Arch Bridge. This year will feature more new local craft beers with the usual sumptuous selection of savory foods at the market. Listen to live music at the Kick-off Concert Friday evening at 7 p.m., throughout the day Saturday and Sunday and Saturday evening at 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

"It is all about the experience of art," says Wayzata Chamber's Brooke Beyer. "It is movement in yoga, it is the creation of gardens and it is the art of the culinary." Experience is the organizing principle of the Wayzata Art Experience held in the heart of downtown Wayzata on the shores of Lake Minnetonka. Not only will visitors see the original crafts of 100 artists, but they will experience artisans painting and sculpting on site, walk through plots of beautifully designed garden art in the middle of the streets created by three award-winning Lake Minnetonka landscapers and join in the community art project by painting a voyageur canoe. All the while, watch the performing arts of yoga and dancers, hear the sweet sounds of musicians and see food demos by the best culinary artists in town.

ArtSoup Festival

ArtSoup is a free family-friendly art festival held in downtown Elk River on Main Street and Jackson Avenue. All types of visual and performing artists are invited to this 10th year anniversary. ArtSoup will display all Juried Art Exhibit entries in the Arts Alliance Gallery from June 18 through July 12, 2014. Judging will occur on Saturday, June 28th and winners of cash prizes will be announced at the Great River Energy Stage that day.
