2 men killed in separate shootings in south Minneapolis
MINNEAPOLIS — Two men were killed in separate shootings in south Minneapolis overnight, police say.
The first shooting happened around 9 p.m. on the 3400 block of Third Avenue South, according to the Minneapolis Police Department. A man in his 20s was shot and taken to Hennepin Healthcare, where he died. He was later identified by the medical examiner as 23-year-old Abdullah Ibrahim Ramzy.
A nearby home was also hit by gunfire.
About 10 minutes after that shooting, police responded to an alley on the 3100 block of Harriet Avenue South after reports of someone dumping a body from a car, the department said. Officers found a man in his 30s who had been shot multiple times. He also died after being taken to Hennepin Healthcare.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as James Edward Smith.
Police said no one has been arrested. The department is working to find out whether the shootings were connected.
