Police: Santa Ana Woman, 75, With Alzheimer's Is Missing
SANTA ANA (CBS) — Santa Ana police Thursday asked for the public's help in locating a 75-year-old woman with Alzheimer's.
Iris Kaufman's daughter spoke on the telephone with her mother at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.
When Kaufman's daughter returned home at 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, her mother was gone and so was her medicine, dog, hygiene items and 2008 Toyota Prius, Bertagna said.
Kaufman is 5-foot-1, 170 pounds, has gray hair and blue eyes.
She has multiple surgery scars on her chest, Bertagna said.
Kaufman, a retired physician, suffers from memory loss, disorientation and depression, according to Bertagna.
She may also have her small, gray schnauzer, Lucy, with her, Bertagna added.
The license plate on her Prius is 6CYA083.
Authorities are concerned because Kaufman becomes disoriented if she strays much from home, Bertagna said.
