Laurie Passman was named Vice President and News Director of KTVT-TV (CBS 11) in August 2018. Passman joined CBS 11 in August 2015 as the station's Assistant News Director.
Passman is a 20 year news veteran who has covered major news events such as the deadly ambush shooting of Dallas and DART Police Officers; Arizona's devastating Yarnell Hill Fire and the shooting of US Rep. Gabby Giffords. Passman has managed news coverage for large scale events such as Super Bowls, elections and live televised debates. Passman manages the internship program at CBS 11 and is passionate about mentoring the next generation of journalists. She frequently donates her time as a guest lecturer for journalism classes.
Prior to joining KTVT, Passman was Assistant News Director at KTVK-TV in Phoenix, where she managed the EMMY® Award-winning consumer news unit, "3OYS." She was also the Executive Producer of the top-rated "Good Morning Arizona" and expanded the newscast to 5 ½ hours. Prior to that, Passman served as News Director at KOB-TV in Albuquerque, where she led the team to earn the New Mexico Broadcasters Association Excellence in Broadcasting award. While at KOB, she also launched an EMMY® Award-winning investigative/consumer news unit.
Passman earned her bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico School of Communication and Journalism. In her spare time, she plays the drums and enjoys live music. She is also passionate about two essentials of life: food and shoes.
