Man Arrested After Woman In Her 20s Dies After Crash On I-20 Involving 2 Cars And 18-Wheeler

ARLINGTON, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A woman in her 20s died this morning in a crash in the WB lanes of I-20 near Collins St, involving two cars and an 18-wheeler. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

There were two separate crashes in the westbound lanes at the location. The first crash involved a passenger vehicle and a commercial vehicle consisting of a truck-tractor and semi-trailer. Investigators believe the passenger vehicle swerved towards the commercial vehicle and made contact, resulting in the initial crash. The driver of the commercial vehicle attempted to take evasive action which caused the truck-tractor and semi-trailer to jackknife across all the westbound lanes of the Interstate.

A second passenger vehicle was traveling westbound and struck the semi-trailer. The woman who was killed was driving the passenger car.

The initial driver, Michael Bailey, who swerved toward the commercial vehicle was arrested by officers for Intoxication Manslaughter.

He is a 38-year-old resident of Arlington.

There were no other reported injuries.

The highway was closed for several hours while emergency crews cleared debris and leaking fuel from the roadway, but has since reopened.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will identify the deceased once next of kin have been notified. The crash remains under investigation.
