Suspected School Copper Thieves Arrested

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Duncanville police say they have caught the men responsible for stealing copper from several locations throughout the city, including eight school buildings.

Police arrested Ronnie Berry, 52, and Mark Aimes, 48, after they were spotted circling Duncanville Junior High on September 8. Officers found a large amount of copper piping in their truck.

Later, investigators later linked the pair to copper thefts from more than 250 air conditioner units on Duncanville Independent School District property. The damage will cost nearly $60,000 to repair.

Duncanville police say air conditioner thefts are on the rise because the copper and aluminum inside of them.
