Looking for ways to get out, move, stay active and save money without an expensive gym membership? Your community has many ways to stay fit without breaking the bank.

The Dallas Running Club is the largest running and walking organization in the Dallas-Fort Worth area run by volunteers. Whether you want to train to run a marathon or simply stay fit and active, you will find support and friends in this club. They also hold free social runs and events. Dues are incredibly affordable and include annual membership with message board access, organized group runs, written training plans, coaching and free entry into some races.

The Dallas Park and Recreation Department maintains nearly 62 miles of bike and jogging trails at 24 different park locations, plus hike trails, lakes, parks, and rec centers with fitness areas, pools and organized sporting activities such as swimming, football, soccer, softball, baseball and golf. Visit the website for details in your community. Many activities are free or affordable, and there are many options for all ages. You can find a list of free Wireless Enabled Parks on website. Tip: Your city will have a website for its parks and recreation department that you can find in a simple internet search with city name, and key words "parks and recreation."

From Frisbee to volleyball, and dancing to walks in the parks, a simple search can provide you with enough groups and meetups to keep you busy every day of the week. Many groups are organized by a volunteer and are free to join. Don't see a group for you? Start one!
