Rangers Announcer Barnett Still Out Following On-Air Mishap

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM/AP) - Texas Rangers television play-by-play announcer Dave Barnett says he doesn't remember any of a rambling, incoherent description of game play that has kept him off the air for a week.

Barnett tells 105.3 The Fan that the preliminary diagnosis for what happened June 18 was a "complicated migraine" with a "complicated diagnosis."

Barnett was calling the Rangers' game against San Diego when he said a runner was on "fifth'' base after a "botched robbery.'' He then mentioned a "henchman'' before the broadcast went silent for several seconds.

Barnett said Monday that he went to bed without knowing anything was wrong. The next morning, he says he got a call from his wife before seeing his call being discussed on national TV.

Barnett wanted to make sure all the fans knew that he was very thankful and appreciative of all the fans keeping him in their thoughts and prayers.

It's not clear when Barnett will return to the air.
