FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) — One Fort Worth waitress at the West Side Cafe remembers her regulars.
When Kayla Lane saw Shaun and Debbie Riddle earlier this week, she asked about their newborn baby girl. But about a month ago, at a mere nine weeks old, little Glory never woke up from a nap. Her parents still do not know why. Feeling terrible, Kayla made a gesture of good will -- but not under her name...
"Your ticket has been paid for.
We are terribly sorry for your loss.
God Bless,
- The West Side"
Shaun says he tried to refuse. "And, she said, 'No, no, don't worry. The company took care of it'," said Shaun. It was a small fib.
The restaurant says Kayla Lane paid for the meal out of her own pocket, as she often does for police, firefighters, and members of the military.
