26-Year-Old Shot Multiple Times Along Sam Rayburn Tollway

LEWISVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) - More than a dozen shots were fired at a vehicle on the Sam Rayburn Tollway in Lewisville Sunday morning, striking a man multiple times, police said.

The shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the tollway before Standridge Drive.

Police identified the victim as 26-year-old Deandre Conway, who was shot three times. He was transported to the hospital where he is expected to be okay. Police said he was conscious and breathing.

Friends say Conway is known in the Dallas music scene as rapper Yella Beezy. He was one of the opening acts for artists Jay-Z and Beyonce when their tour stopped in Arlington in September.

"He is a real humble, real nice guy. Very likable and funny type of guy. But, he just seemed to be real happy with the success he was having and enjoying life at the moment," said family friend Dietric Alexander.

There's been no word yet on suspects or arrests.
