Final A/C Repairs For Mesquite Apartment Complex

MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) - Families living at a Mesquite apartment complex are facing hot weather on Tuesday without air conditioning -- again! But, this time, they were warned about the situation.

It has been less than one week since broken coolers were finally repaired at the Hillcrest Apartments in Mesquite. Now, crews are back at the complex for additional work.

Residents said that they received notice about the repair work on Friday. The letter stated that the electricity -- and the air conditioning -- would be shut off starting on Tuesday morning and lasting until about 3:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon.

Residents who received the written notice were encouraged to utilize a temporary cooling area -- a big tent with chairs, tables and portable air conditioning units. "We have neighbors that are sick," said resident Brandon Trejo. "Everybody feels the same way. This has been going on for quite a while, and so hopefully it does get fixed sometime."

A spokesman for the City of Mesquite is confident that the repairs will be completed on schedule, unlike last time when residents were forced to live without cool air for an entire week.

The city said that Tuesday's work is part of the final repairs on the apartment complex's chilling system, fixing a broken underground pipe that carries cool water to individual air conditioning units.
