St. Patrick's Day in DFW offers a more than a wee bit of fun for everyone. Whether you feel like putting on a pair of running shoes or just sitting back and relaxing, these St. Patrick Day events can be enjoyed by folks of all ages.

St. Patrick's Day Parade

What began as small neighborhood parade has grown into the largest St. Patrick's Day Parade in the south. Various organizations and Greenville Avenue merchants create more than 100 elaborate and colorful floats for the two-mile parade that travels down Greenville Avenue from Park Lane. Keep a few things in mind when taking the family to the parade: ride the DART rail, prepare to arrive early and prepare to leave early. Spend the weekend in the most Irish town in Texas: Dublin. Located to the south of the metroplex, the small town rolls out the green carpet once a year to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. This festival includes Irish stew cook-offs, highland games, and Dublin idol karaoke contests. The kids will enjoy a carnival with rides and a petting zoo along with lots of arts and crafts.

St. Patrick's Day 5K Festival

Price: $5 general public/free children younger than 5 and for participants in the 5K or one-mile kids' race

Time: 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Impossible Possibilities will host its 4th Annual St. Patrick's Day 5K Festival to raise funds for its scholarship initiative to help send DFW students to college. This is a full-service festival, even for non-runners, complete with Smithwick's and Dominion Farms' Irish smoked sausage, Texas country music and famed Texas poet, Mike Guinn. Kids will enjoy themselves in the Kid Zone with bounce houses and face painting. Remember to bring blankets or lounge chairs.

Cowtown Goes Green

Stockyards Station in Fort Worth's historic district will once again provide a petting zoo, face painting and pony rides on St. Patrick's Day. Call out the whole family for an old-fashioned cattle drive and the Cowtown Goes Green Parade.

St. Patrick's Day Concert

Time: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

King of Kings Entertainment will sponsor a family friendly concert to celebrate the holiday in a safe environment. Proceeds from the event will benefit charities and those less fortunate. Email a photograph with event date and location to have it considered for the video montage at the concert. Scheduled performers include Seventh Day Slumber and Jenn Peterson.

With a cast of Irish step dancers, vocalists and instrumentalists performing Broadway classics like "Brigadoon" and "Finian's Rainbow," your Irish eyes will be smiling. Seating for this nationwide hit begins 30 minutes prior to showtime. Arrive early so you won't have to wait for a break in the performance to be seated. Business casual and church-style dress are recommended for each performance.
