GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) - One passenger is dead and another in serious condition after a crash in Grand Prairie early Wednesday morning.  The driver of the Jeep Cherokee the two were in walked away from the accident, but then walked home without calling 911.

The deadly incident happened around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning along northbound Highway 360, near Webb Lynn Road.  Grand Prairie police say the Jeep rolled several times before stopping in an open field near the highway.

Police confirmed that three people were inside the Cherokee when it crashed. One of them, identified as 18-year-old Lokuekim Kipsa, was found dead at the scene.  The other pasenger, 21-year-old Donete Pierce, was transported to Methodist Medical Center in Dallas by air ambulance, where he remains in Serious condition.

The driver of the vehicle, 21-year-old Ashlee Straker, survived and walked home after the crash without notifying police about the accident. Police had to go searching for Straker, who they then transported to JPS Hospital in Fort Worth.

The car is registered to a woman who had loaned it to Straker to attend a party. Police stopped by the home of the owner and she in turn led them to Straker. Authorities said that he was dazed and confused when they found him.

Police believe that excessive speed played a factor in the crash, and are waiting on toxicology reports to see if Straker had been drinking.

Highway 360 was shut down for a couple hours while police conducted an investigation, but lanes have been opened back up to traffic.
