DPD Investigators Question 5 Suspects After 2 Men Are Shot Dead At Gas Station

UPDATE: 5 Charged With Capital Murder In Shooting Deaths Of 2 Young Men At Dallas Gas Station Friday

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Two people are dead after an early morning shooting at a gas station in the Pleasant Grove area.

Dallas police were called to an Exxon Station on Bruton Road around 6:30 a.m. When police arrived they found two Latin men shot dead, lying in the parking lot.

After further investigation, police say the victims had been sitting in the front seat of a four-door sedan, with two women sitting in the back seat. Officials say at some point a red Dodge Charger sped into the lot and parked in front of the sedan.

Three armed men got out of the Charger, confronted the victims and the group got into a tussle. The two victims allegedly tried to run away during the fight and that is when police say they were shot.

"All three suspects got back into the Charger and the two females who were sitting in the victims car got out and got into the Charger as well," Dallas police Sgt. Warren Mitchell explained during a morning press conference.

After speeding from the shooting scene, police say the driver of the Charger crashed a short distance away -- in the 8900 block of Shorelark Drive. A witness saw people get out of the car after the accident, thought they were behaving strangely and alerted police.

Police searched the area near the crash and officers ultimately found all five people from the car hiding in a nearby shed. The three men and two women were taken to police headquarters for questioning.

Police have not released the names of the shooting victims pending family notification.
